Superlative Adjectives: Pengertian, Contoh, dan Cara Membentuknya

Superlative adjectives adalah bentuk kata sifat yang digunakan untuk membandingkan tiga atau lebih benda atau orang dan menunjukkan tingkat tertinggi atau terendah dari suatu kualitas. Superlative adjectives biasanya diikuti oleh kata the dan kata benda yang dimodifikasinya. Contoh:

Cara Membentuk Superlative Adjectives

Ada beberapa aturan yang harus diperhatikan dalam membentuk superlative adjectives, tergantung pada jumlah suku kata dan akhiran dari kata sifat yang digunakan. Berikut adalah aturan-aturan tersebut:

• Untuk kata sifat yang berakhir dengan satu suku kata, tambahkan akhiran -est. Contoh: old -> oldest, big -> biggest, fast -> fastest.

• Untuk kata sifat yang berakhir dengan dua atau lebih suku kata, tambahkan kata most sebelum kata sifat. Contoh: beautiful -> most beautiful, expensive -> most expensive, interesting -> most interesting.
• Ada beberapa kata sifat yang tidak mengikuti aturan di atas karena bersifat tidak beraturan. Contoh: good -> best, bad -> worst, far -> farthest/furthest.
